Zelensky Imposes Sanctions on 10 Russian Athletes, Including Yana Yegoryan
Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree imposing sanctions on 10 Russian athletes. "To enforce the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on the application of 'Personal Special Economic and Other Restrictive Measures'," the decree published on Zelensky's office website states.
A list of the individuals subject to sanctions is attached to the decree. It includes 10 Russian athletes: wrestlers Yevgeny Baidusov and Imam Ganishov, boxer Fedor Chudinov, archer Svetlana Gomboeva, President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Arkadi Dvorkovich, fencer Yana Yegoryan, taekwondo athlete, Olympic champion and world champion Vladislav Larin, gymnast Angelina Melnikova, judoka Madina Taymazova, and taekwondo athlete Maxim Khramtsov.
The sanctions imposed by Kyiv typically include the freezing of assets in Ukraine, revocation of licenses, prohibition of official visits, restrictions on the transfer of intellectual property, and cessation of trade agreements, cultural exchanges, and scientific cooperation. They also entail the deprivation of all state awards in Ukraine.
