Palestine Demands Sanctions Against Israel

The Palestinian authorities have initiated steps through international organizations to impose sanctions against Israel, as reported by Deputy Foreign Minister Omar Awadallah. He noted that the process is being carried out at the United Nations Security Council, the League of Arab States (LAS), and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Awadallah emphasized that the issue is also being discussed at the level of permanent representatives of the LAS in Cairo. He highlighted that the Palestinian side is prepared to utilize all possible platforms to counter Israel's actions.

The diplomat recalled that former U.S. President Donald Trump had assured Arab and Islamic countries that he would not support the annexation of Palestinian territories. Awadallah also mentioned that the normalization of relations with Israel by several countries implies that these states should work towards urging Israel to abandon its annexation plans.

On February 8, Israel approved measures to expand control in the West Bank, including lifting the ban on the sale of land to Israeli settlers. This decision has drawn criticism from a number of countries and international organizations, including the European Union, the UN, and representatives from Russia's Foreign Ministry.
