Greece to Send Troops to Gaza

Greece will send a battalion of troops to Gaza as part of the International Stabilization Forces (ISF), according to a report by the newspaper "Kathimerini," citing sources.

"Preparatory work for Greece's participation in the International Stabilization Forces (ISF) in Gaza is in an advanced phase... According to well-informed sources, a decision has been made to participate at a reduced battalion level, with approximately 100-150 military personnel," the article states.

Initially, the country planned to send only civilian personnel to the Gaza Strip, specifically doctors and engineers, but the final composition of the Greek contingent will also include security forces. The primary role of the soldiers will presumably be to accompany the medical and engineering units, the newspaper reports.

The battalion will also include officers who will be stationed at the ISF headquarters, the newspaper reveals. It notes that two Greek officers are already serving in the city of Kiryat Gat in Israel, at the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC), which has been established to monitor the ceasefire regime in the Gaza Strip.

The Greek military component will be deployed within the security perimeter set by the Israeli army around the Gaza Strip. Due to its small size, it will be integrated into larger formations.
