U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that during the Peace Council meeting scheduled for February 19 in Washington, an announcement will be made regarding more than $5 billion in funding for the reconstruction of Gaza.
“We will announce that participating countries have pledged more than $5 billion for humanitarian needs and reconstruction in Gaza,” Trump wrote on the TruthSocial social network.
The U.S. presidential administration has sent invitations to the leaders of nearly 50 countries to participate in the Peace Council meeting focused on the Gaza issue, and they have publicly stated in recent days that they have received the U.S. president's proposal. The list of invited countries includes nations from various regions, from Australia to Japan. The list also includes Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine.
Russia will not be represented at the first meeting of the Peace Council; its position on this matter is still being formed, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.
