Delayed Electric Vehicles Require Tariff Payments in Armenia: Garnik Danielyan

A group of citizens has approached me, raising concerns that electric vehicles purchased months ago have yet to arrive in Armenia due to logistic issues, and they are now forced to pay tariffs. This was announced by Garnik Danielyan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Armenia' faction, on his Facebook page.

“The issue is that when our citizens were purchasing electric vehicles from third countries months ago, there was no mention of tariffs. I would also like to note that the Minister of Economy announced in December that electric vehicles imported into Armenia until January 31, 2026, would be exempt from VAT, regardless of the year of manufacture. In light of the existing logistical issues, I propose that the Ministry of Economy review the established deadline and make it a three-month period. This decision should also apply to the owners of electric vehicles purchased months ago that have not yet arrived in Armenia. Otherwise, our citizens will be compelled to pay VAT amounting to several thousand dollars, which adds an additional financial burden,” he stated.
