US Treasury Secretary stated in an interview with Fox News that the US President believes that after American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, the US could negotiate a far more favorable deal with Tehran; however, the decision on this issue remains with the Iranian authorities.
He also asserted that Iran understands only 'brute force, both in financial markets and military domains.' On February 11, US Vice President J.D. Vance announced that Trump intends to reach an agreement with Iran that will guarantee the non-proliferation of Tehran’s nuclear weapons.
On February 6, Iran and the United States engaged in negotiations in the capital of Oman regarding the Islamic Republic's nuclear program. This meeting was the first since June 2025, following a long hiatus caused by the escalation of the Iran-Israel conflict. Prior to this, the Islamic Republic and the United States had conducted five phases of consultations.
