EU Sanctions Could Harm the 'Middle Corridor', Georgian Foreign Ministry

“EU sanctions against the port of Kulevi could damage the ‘Middle Corridor’,” stated Georgia's Deputy Foreign Minister Giorgi Zurabashvili during a meeting with EU Ambassador Pavel Gerchik.

According to Zurabashvili, Tbilisi hopes that the Kulevi port, which is an integral part of the Middle Corridor, will not be included in the 20th sanction package against Russia by the EU.

He emphasized that Georgia adheres to all EU sanctions against Russia and is actively preventing any attempts to circumvent them.

Zurabashvili added that, so far, no inquiries or comments have been received from EU bodies regarding the operational status of Kulevi port.

It is noteworthy that the EU has proposed to impose sanctions on Georgia's Kulevi and Indonesia's Karimun ports due to operations involving Russian oil. If the proposal is confirmed, European companies will face sanctions.
