Trump Proposes to Build World's Largest Arch in Washington

U.S. President Donald Trump intends to construct the "Independence" arch in connection with the 250th anniversary of America’s independence, which he envisions becoming the largest in the world. This was reported by CNN.

The proposed structure will stand at a height of 250 feet, significantly surpassing the height of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, which stands at 164 feet.

Trump's proposed arch is set to be built between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington House. According to the project, the main structure will have a height and width of 165 feet, crowned with a 25-foot pedestal on which a 60-foot tall gilded bronze statue of the "Goddess of Liberty" will be placed.

However, the project faces serious opposition. Preservation experts of historical heritage warn that such a large-scale structure could obstruct the historical views between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.

Moreover, safety concerns arise from an aviation perspective; the structure is located in close proximity to Reagan National Airport, where planes operate at altitudes of only 492 feet.
