US Will Not Support European Military Intervention in Ukraine, Lavrov Says
The response of the United States to the proposal from Europe to deploy troops in Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire and an "automatic guarantee" of military assistance from Washington will not be positive, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Previously, the Financial Times reported that the US and European countries allegedly agreed on a multilayer program to respond to any potential "violations" of agreements regarding Ukraine by Russia. The newspaper claims that even the deployment of American troops is being considered.
“The leaders of Great Britain, Keir Starmer, and France, Emmanuel Macron, alongside NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, openly boast that there will be ‘interventionist forces’ stationed there in the event of a ceasefire, and that there will be an ‘automatic guarantee’ that the US will support them militarily. I won’t delve into how we discussed this with the Americans. But we asked them if this is true. I have no doubt that the answer will not be positive for the Europeans and Vladimir Zelensky,” he said in an interview with NTV on the occasion of Diplomat’s Day.
