Azerbaijan Will Never Become a Battlefield: Aliyev
Azerbaijan plays a crucial role in ensuring the energy security of many countries. Ten of these countries are members of the European Union, and eleven are also members of NATO. Therefore, Azerbaijan is becoming a much more important partner for these countries than ever before.
According to APA, President Ilham Aliyev stated this during a meeting with a delegation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
“We respect and uphold all our commitments and never mix political agendas with business, and this is also a good opportunity for us to expand our international presence in the global energy market,” noted the head of state.
Aliyev also stated, “Investments are the main driving force behind the development of any country.” According to the president, Azerbaijan and its legislation have always been open to foreign investment. “In the production-sharing agreement signed 30 years ago, not a single word has changed. I know that this is not the case everywhere in the world. Sometimes concessions are made during negotiations that are later revised. This has never happened here because we were absolutely confident that trust must be built, especially in a country that, as I mentioned, was in a difficult situation in the early 1990s. Trust takes years to build, and just one misstep can destroy it. Thus, we were fortunate not to have made such a mistake. On the contrary, the number of companies working with us continues to grow. The geography of our international relations is also expanding. Documents, agreements, and declarations on strategic partnership have been signed with many countries, some of which do not have the best relations with each other. But I have always said that Azerbaijan will never become a battlefield; it will be a space for cooperation,” the head of state emphasized.
