Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Addresses Social Support for Displaced Persons from Artsakh

The spokesperson for the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, Nver Kostanyan, made a post on his Facebook page, noting that recently some political forces and self-appointed officials have been clearly engaged in pre-election exploitation and the deliberate dissemination of misinformation regarding the alleged cessation of social support from the state for compatriots displaced from Artsakh.

According to him, these propaganda theses not only do not correspond to reality but are also dangerous as they exploit the social issues of individuals facing difficult life circumstances.

“Our compatriots' social support programs continue and are being expanded in terms of housing provision, employment, and social assistance. In particular, the housing program for displaced families from Artsakh continues, which is one of the most extensive programs in the social protection sector, with a budget of around 2 billion dollars.

The initiative providing 30,000 drams of assistance to specific groups displaced from Artsakh is also ongoing, benefiting 44,000 individuals. The number of families eligible for urgent social support programs aimed at needy families is 6,000. Within the scope of all these programs, compatriots are actually and continuously receiving state support, contrary to the claims of those spreading misinformation.

Moreover, new programs aimed at long-term rental compensation and stimulating self-employment among our compatriots will soon be launched. Currently, around 25,000 displaced individuals from Artsakh have formal employment.

In general, the state's policy regarding social issues and overcoming poverty is clear: there is but one path—work. The state encourages employment as the primary means of overcoming difficult life situations and consistently implements policies aimed at ensuring the stable and long-term employment of its citizens.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs regularly holds meetings in various formats with our compatriots from Artsakh, is fully informed about their concerns, and the policies implemented by the state are developed while also considering the needs and observations of our compatriots,” the clarification states.
