Trump Promises Funding in Exchange for Naming Rights to Station
Mariam Z.
U.S. President Donald Trump has promised to allocate around $16 billion for a major infrastructure project in New York if Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer agrees to rename Penn Station and the airport in the Washington metropolitan area after him, CNN reports, citing informed sources.
Schumer rejected Trump’s proposal, informing the president that he lacks the authority to fulfill such an unusual request, the network reported.
On February 3rd, New York and New Jersey states sued Trump’s administration for freezing the $16 billion funding for the Hudson River tunnel, demanding an immediate resumption of funding for the major project approved by Joe Biden's administration for 2023-2024.
