Russia Will Respect Armenia's Choice, Lavrov

Joining the European Union is incompatible with participation in the Eurasian Economic Union; however, Russia will respect Armenia's choice. This statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“Membership in the Eurasian Economic Union is incompatible with the principles underlying cooperation, and even more so with joining the European Union. That is your choice, and we will fully respect it,” Lavrov said during a meeting with Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan.

Lavrov also noted that the European Union continuously places Armenia in front of a choice: to cooperate with Russia or with the EU.
