Poverty Was Higher in the Past, Says Torosyan
Extreme poverty is at 0.6 percent, while the poverty rate measured by the average poverty line stands at 21.7 percent, stated Arsen Torosyan, the Minister of Health, during a session in the National Assembly.
"In the past, this figure was significantly higher, and we are also seeing a downward trend. In 2023, it was at 1.1, in 2024 it dropped to 0.6, and I am confident that it will be even lower in 2025. The same applies to non-extreme poverty: 26.5, 24.8, 23.7, and now, using new methodologies, it is at 21.7. This is certainly the result of our policies, both internal and external," Torosyan emphasized.
"We are implementing reforms across all sectors, focusing on employment and individual effort, while not forgetting our citizens who, for objective reasons, cannot work."
