Iran Concerns Over Possible US Strike Consequences: Reuters

The Iranian government is increasingly worried that a potential US strike could lead to its downfall amidst new protests. This was reported by Reuters, citing current and former Iranian officials.

According to sources, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has been informed that public discontent over the brutal crackdown on protests that took place in January has reached a level where fear no longer affects the Iranian people.

It was noted that Iranian authorities have concluded that external pressure, including a possible US strike, could encourage protesters. "People are extremely angry. The wall of fear has collapsed. There is no longer any fear," described a former senior official with moderate views.

Based on assessments from six Reuters sources, more violent protests are expected in response to the brutal suppression of previous demonstrations, as protesters "realize they have nothing left to lose."
