Tensions Rise as the US Strengthens Military Presence in the Middle East: CNN
The United States continues to bolster its military presence in the Middle East in the wake of statements directed at Iran. Following President Donald Trump's announcements regarding potential military actions, a naval strike group has been deployed to the Persian Gulf region.
This naval strike group consists of three destroyers armed with Tomahawk cruise missiles, as well as the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. The carrier can accommodate up to 90 various types of aircraft, including fighters, bombers, electronic warfare and long-range radar detection planes, as well as helicopters.
According to sources from CNN, the USS Abraham Lincoln could become a key asset for a potential strike against Iran. At the same time, the involvement of American military bases operating in the region is not ruled out. It has been reported that the US has eight permanent military bases and more than a dozen temporary ones in the Middle East, including in Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman.
According to data from the Council on Foreign Relations, between 40,000 and 50,000 American troops were located in the Middle East during the summer of 2025. Earlier, we reported on President Donald Trump's intentions to initiate military operations against Iran.
