Inspections of Meat Sales Outlets Increase in Armenia

The number of inspections conducted at meat sales outlets in Armenia has risen, while the number of violations has decreased. This information was shared by the head of the Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia, Tigran Petrosyan, during a meeting with journalists where he presented the results for 2025.

According to him, 'In 2025, there were 5,301 epidemiological monitoring visits, of which 4,515 were at meat sales points, and 786 were at slaughterhouses, livestock farms, and dairy reception points.' Petrosyan attributed the decline in violations to the effective operations of the inspection body. 'Monitoring and control will continue,' he emphasized.

It was noted that in 2025, a total of 314 violations were identified, with 265 cases leading to administrative penalties for the businesses involved. As a result of the recorded violations at meat sales points, nearly 8 tons of meat were confiscated and destroyed.

Referring to the slaughterhouses, Petrosyan indicated that their number was 139 in 2024 and decreased to 128 in 2025. 'Despite the reduction in the number of slaughterhouses, 31,000 tons of meat were actually slaughtered, which is higher compared to previous years,' the official stated.
