May 4 Will Be a Non-Working Day
The government has decided to move the working day of May 4 to April 18, Saturday. The reason for this change is the 8th Summit of the European Political Community, which is scheduled to take place in Yerevan.
During the government meeting, it was noted that leaders from around 50 countries will be present in Yerevan, prompting the closure of the city's small center. The head of the Prime Minister's office stated that the decision had been made in advance, considering the three preceding days will be public holidays.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan humorously remarked, "Is it May holidays? This means we are asking everyone to rush from Yerevan's center to the Sevan basin and nearby regions for active recreation." He also addressed the decision to hold the summit in Yerevan, emphasizing that it is made by consensus and represents a significant milestone for the state's establishment and strengthening of its international reputation. Furthermore, it is crucial that we host the event at the highest organizational level.
He added that the decision aims to spare citizens from potential additional inconveniences, taking into account existing traffic issues, as well as to ensure the proper organization of the event.
