Avinyan Suggests Innovative Solutions for Snow Removal Operations
The Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, has commented on the snow removal operations conducted in the capital, expressing gratitude to those involved in the process. According to him, hundreds of people have worked tirelessly to make roads and sidewalks passable. "Hundreds of people have worked to ensure that our roads and sidewalks become accessible," he stated.
The mayor also addressed the issues that arose during the snow removal, noting that the complaints received aim to ensure better preparedness next time and the implementation of innovative solutions, especially in cases where it is known that precipitation will occur during the daytime. "Accepting that this year's conditions were indeed anomalous and the snowfall was substantial, there were more problems than usual. I want to focus on a few constructive points; please do not take this as blame. Let's be prepared next year to address challenges using innovative solutions, knowing that snow will arrive at specific times, for instance, there is a new technology for applying a brine solution to the streets in advance," Avinyan said.
He also referred to the cleaning of sidewalks, describing this issue as systemic. "As for the sidewalks, I see the issue as systemic; we need new solutions. No matter how much machinery we acquire, it will not allow us to comprehensively address the situation. We need a new mechanism for coordinating work with housing associations," the mayor noted.
Avinyan further discussed the obligations of private companies, emphasizing that they are responsible for cleaning the sidewalks in front of their buildings. "Our private partners, many of whom were revealed this year, have the obligation to clean the sidewalks in front of them. I want to share a bad news with those partners: they are required to maintain the appearance of their front areas properly year-round and ensure that these areas meet the standards set by the council's decisions," he concluded.
