Dialogue Between Moscow and Washington Progressing Slowly: Ryabkov
Russia and the United States have made limited progress in their relations, stated Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov. At the same time, Ryabkov admitted that overall, dialogue between Moscow and Washington is progressing slowly. He noted that there has been no advancement on several key issues.
Particularly, at the end of December, the United States once again refused to resume direct air links with Russia until the end of the war in Ukraine. “There has been no progress here,” the deputy minister declared.
The next round of negotiations is scheduled for the beginning of spring. Three such meetings had previously been officially announced. Two of them took place in Istanbul, while another was held in Washington.
Russia has begun consultations with the United States regarding the full resumption of embassy operations, the return of diplomatic property, and the resumption of air communications, while simultaneously negotiating to end the war in Ukraine. These negotiations have yet to yield results. The parties continue to discuss the peace plan proposed by the United States.
