NATO to Arm with Robots to Defend Against Russia
In the next two years, NATO plans to equip its eastern flank with robots and unmanned weapon systems to prevent potential military aggression from Russia. This was announced by NATO Army General Thomas Lovin in an interview with the German publication "Welt am Sonntag."
According to General Lovin, NATO will also increase its stockpile of weapons and ammunition along the alliance’s borders with Russia and Belarus. A zone equipped with remotely operated robotic systems will also be established in the border region. In the event of an attack, these systems are designed to create obstacles for enemy advances and minimize possible losses among NATO troops.
This surveillance system will consist of devices that gather data on land, in the air, in space, and even in the digital domain. The information obtained will be available in real-time to NATO representatives.
