Afghanistan in Natural Disaster Zone: 61 Dead, Roads Blocked, Houses Collapsed
At least 61 people have been killed due to heavy snowfalls and freezing rains in Afghanistan. This information was provided by the National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA).
“In the last three days, as a result of heavy rains and snowfall, 61 people have died and 110 have been injured in various provinces of the country,” the agency's statement said.
The natural disaster has resulted in the complete or partial collapse of 458 houses, affecting 360 families, and 620 head of livestock have been lost. Mountainous and rural areas with poorly developed infrastructure have been the hardest hit.
Almost all major and secondary roads in the country are blocked, and power supply from abroad has been interrupted due to infrastructure damage. According to Afghan meteorologists, heavy snowfall may continue in several regions of the country this week.
