Putin and Whitcoff's Negotiations Lasted More Than 3.5 Hours in the Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin met behind closed doors with Yuri Ushakov and Kirill Dmitriev, along with U.S. Special Envoy to President Trump, Steve Whitcoff, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and senior advisor Josh Greenbaum to discuss possible ways to cease the war ignited by Russia in Ukraine. According to the Kremlin's press service, the meeting lasted more than three and a half hours. The outcomes of the meeting have not been officially disclosed.

Reports indicate that the anticipated discussions included the issue of resolution with Ukraine and related matters. Previously, Putin had stated that the parties would discuss the invitation for Moscow to the Peace Council and the issue of frozen Russian assets. Russian media later quoted Ushakov's words that "the meeting in the Kremlin was useful in every respect for both Russia and the U.S."

"We agreed that the first meeting of the trilateral Russia-U.S.-Ukraine working group on security issues will take place in Abu Dhabi on January 23," Ushakov said. According to TASS, during the negotiations, Russia stated that there is no hope for long-term resolution in Ukraine without a resolution of territorial issues. Russia will continue to address the problem on the battlefield until a resolution is achieved. The Peace Council, Greenland, and a number of other topics were discussed during Putin's meeting with the Americans in the Kremlin.
