EU to Send 447 Generators to Ukraine as One Million Ukrainians Face Heating Crisis Amid -20°C Temperatures
The EU will send 447 generators to Ukraine worth €3.7 million. These emergency generators are intended to restore electricity to hospitals, shelters, and critical services that have been damaged due to ongoing Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the European Commission announced.
The Commission noted that as a result of these attacks, one million Ukrainians are left without electricity and heating in temperatures as low as -20°C. The generators will be distributed in cooperation with Ukraine's Red Cross in the most affected regions of the country.
“We will not allow Russia to freeze Ukraine. We are bringing light and warmth where Russia spreads darkness,” said European Commission spokesperson Eva Grinchirova.
