Russia to Transfer $1 Billion from Frozen Assets to the Peace Council
The allocation of $1 billion from frozen assets to the Peace Council will require certain actions from the United States, the legal details still need to be clarified, stated Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of Russia.
Previously, President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia is ready to transfer $1 billion from its previously frozen assets to the Peace Council. “How this will be legally formulated is still unclear. All of this needs to be discussed. Then it will require unblocking. This, of course, will require certain actions from the United States. But I reiterate, as President Putin said yesterday, these billion should be used for humanitarian purposes for Palestine, for the recovery of Palestine,” Peskov told reporters in response to a question from RIA Novosti regarding the allocation of $1 billion to the Peace Council from frozen assets.
Today, Putin confirmed that Russia received a personal invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join the Peace Council and expressed gratitude to the U.S. President for this. Putin noted that the Russian Federation will respond to the proposal after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs discusses the documents received and consults with strategic partners.
