Investigative Committee Denies Reports of Arresting 9 Individuals in Soldier’s Death Case

The spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, Kima Avdalyan, has refuted a news outlet's report, stating that only one person has been arrested in connection with the criminal proceedings initiated following the death of a soldier.

“On January 16, 2026, I informed that during the preliminary investigation into the soldier's death, one individual has been arrested. I would like to add that this person is currently detained. I confirm that since the initiation of the criminal proceedings, only one individual has been arrested,” said Kima Avdalyan.

It is worth noting that on January 14, at approximately 09:50, the body of soldier Vahan Khachaturov Petrosyan from Military Unit N of the Ministry of Defense was discovered with a gunshot wound. During the preliminary investigation into the criminal proceedings initiated, public criminal prosecution has been initiated against one individual.
