European Parliament Rejects No-Confidence Motion Against von der Leyen
Mariam Z.
The no-confidence motion against European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen failed to secure the necessary votes during a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg this week. The voting was streamed live on the Parliament's website.
In favor of the initiative, 165 Members of the European Parliament voted, while 390 voted against it, and 10 abstained. The authors of the resolution accused the Commission President of ignoring the concerns of European farmers and exceeding her authority.
Von der Leyen did not participate in the session where the third no-confidence motion against her was discussed.
