France Plans to Send Additional Troops to Greenland
French President Emmanuel Macron intends to send at least 200 additional French troops to Greenland, according to the Canard Enchaine newspaper, citing sources.
France has already dispatched about 15 military personnel to Greenland. According to Reuters, the country has also requested NATO exercises to be held in the island.
“Emmanuel Macron is planning to send a unit of at least 200 alpine riflemen to protect the residents of Greenland,” the article states.
Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. However, former U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that the island should become part of the United States.
