It’s Hard to Imagine How Russia and I Could Be Together in Any Council – Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has canceled his trip to Davos. According to media reports, he was supposed to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump during the World Economic Forum in Davos. In a press briefing, the recording of which was released by RBC-Ukraine, Zelensky also commented on the invitation he received from the White House to join his newly formed ‘Peace Council.’

Responding to a question regarding the ‘Peace Council,’ the Ukrainian president noted that Russia and Belarus had also received invitations from Trump. “We have received the invitation, and diplomats are working on it. But Russia is our enemy, and Belarus is its ally. It’s hard to imagine how Russia and I could be together in any council,” Zelensky said.

Discussing his participation in the Davos forum, the Ukrainian leader mentioned that he remains in Kyiv due to heavy shelling that occurred overnight from Russia. The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the mass strike in its report on January 20. According to the ministry's summary, long-range precision weapons and offensive drones struck Ukraine’s military industrial complexes, energy and transportation infrastructure used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, ammunition depots, and places of production for long-range drones. The ministry's statement indicated that the strike was a response to “terrorist attacks on civilian targets in Russia by Ukraine.”

“Of course, in this case, I choose Ukraine rather than economic forums. But everything can change at any moment. Because it is very important for me and for Ukrainians to end this war,” he stated.
