We Have a Clear Position on Greenland Issues: Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, has described U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on eight European countries, including the United Kingdom, due to disputes over Greenland as a "fundamental error." This is reported by TASS.
"Our position on Greenland is very clear: it is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, and its future depends on the people of Greenland and the Danes. We have also clarified that Arctic security is important for all NATO members," the statement reads.
Starmer added that "allies need to do more together to counter the threats posed by Russia in various parts of the Arctic." He emphasized that imposing tariffs on allies striving for collective security among NATO member states is absolutely wrong. "We will certainly discuss this issue directly with the U.S. administration," the Prime Minister stated.
Previously, leaders of major opposition parties in the United Kingdom condemned Trump’s decision.
