Don't Provocateur Trump, Ursula von der Leyen: Kirill Dmitriev
The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special representative of the Russian president for investments and economic cooperation with foreign countries, Kirill Dmitriev, called on the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, not to provoke "Daddy" amid the backdrop of the U.S. imposing 10% tariffs on goods imported from eight EU countries.
Dmitriev made this statement on the social media platform X. Earlier, von der Leyen had written on X that implementing export tariffs on European countries would damage transatlantic relations and could lead to a "dangerous downward spiral."
“Dear Ursula von der Leyen, don’t provoke Daddy. Take the 13 soldiers sent to Greenland. You can impose an additional 1% tariff for each soldier sent,” Dmitriev responded to von der Leyen's post.
Commenting on the U.S. tariffs, he added that transatlantic unity has “come to an end,” and that the “leftist, globalist elites” of the European Union and Great Britain have failed. He accompanied his post with a warning sign image stating, “A storm is coming.”
Earlier, European countries, including Germany, Sweden, France, and Norway, decided to send their troops to Greenland against the backdrop of President Donald Trump's threats to annex the island. On January 17, Trump announced that starting February 1, 2026, a 10% tariff would be charged on all goods shipped from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Finland to the United States. He noted that these countries would continue to pay the tariffs until an agreement is reached concerning the purchase of Greenland.
