Canadian Prime Minister Agrees to Join Gaza Peace Council
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has accepted an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join the Gaza Peace Council, reports Globe and Mail, citing a source. Previously, the White House announced that the Gaza Peace Council includes U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special envoy to Trump Steve Witkoff, Trump’s son-in-law and investor Jared Kushner, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and Deputy National Security Advisor Robert Gabriel.
In mid-November 2025, the UN Security Council approved a resolution proposed by the U.S. supporting Trump’s comprehensive plan for resolution in the Gaza Strip. Trump’s Gaza plan excludes any direct or indirect participation of Hamas in the future governance of Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials have repeatedly stated that Israel is determined to completely militarily and politically dismantle the group.
It was previously reported that U.S. President Donald Trump sent a letter to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, inviting him to join the Gaza Peace Council.
