Request Submitted to Extend Samvel Karapetyan's House Arrest
The investigative body has submitted a request to extend the house arrest of Samvel Karapetyan (under the law, they cannot make any other motions), with the hearing scheduled for today at the Anti-Corruption Court at 16:00. This was reported by attorney Aram Vardevanyan.
“The evident illegal imprisonment imposed from June 18, 2025, was replaced by house arrest with additional restrictions on December 30. As previously reported, the Prosecutor's Office filed an appellate complaint on January 5, the first working day, demanding the evident illegal detention of Samvel Karapetyan be annulled. The appellate court accepted the prosecutor's and our complaints on January 12, setting the date for the decision's announcement for January 16. Meanwhile, the investigative body has submitted a request for the extension of house arrest (legally, no other motions can be made), with the hearing once again scheduled for today at the Anti-Corruption Court at 16:00. Dear compatriots, Samvel Karapetyan will not be participating in today’s court session. We will separately inform you about the developments concerning this political persecution,” the statement noted.
