89 Vehicles Rescued from Blockade
From 08:00 on January 14 to 08:00 on January 16, the emergency management centers of the National and Regional Rescue Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received multiple reports regarding vehicles stranded on various roads across the republic due to snow.
In response to the situation, the emergency response units, in cooperation with the Police Patrol Service, local government representatives, and "Roads of Armenia" staff, managed to rescue 89 vehicles and provide appropriate assistance to 148 citizens.
Specifically, thanks to the coordinated actions of the rescuers, six citizens were safely evacuated from the Artashavan-Saghmosavan roadway.
A road segment leading from the village of Shurnukh to the "Satan's Bridge" was blocked due to a truck stranded in the snow, resulting in a traffic jam involving around 400 vehicles. The firefighters from the Goris fire and rescue team towed the truck out of the blockage over a distance of about 500 meters. Simultaneously, joint efforts were undertaken with the Patrol Service, allowing the road to be opened for one-way traffic.
In another case, an ambulance was unable to proceed to the village of Gokhtanik in the Vayots Dzor province due to heavy snowfall while trying to assist an unwell citizen. Rescuers brought the ambulance crew to the scene with a rescue vehicle and safely transported the citizen to the ambulance.
