Hundreds of U.S. Homeland Security Officers to be Deployed to Minnesota
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is sending hundreds of officers to Minnesota, said Secretary Kristi Noem. This was reported by Reuters.
According to her, the decision was made after tens of thousands of people began massive protests in Minneapolis over the killing of 37-year-old woman Rene Goody by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer.
The Secretary noted that nearly 2,000 federal officers have already been sent to the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The Department of Homeland Security has called this level of officer deployment the "largest operation in history."
Additionally, in New York, thousands of people closed streets, disrupting traffic while chanting, "Donald Trump must go."
It is important to note that large-scale protests continue in the United States.
