Dogs Experience Sadness Like Their Owners

The so-called "January blues" experienced during the winter months is characteristic not only of humans but also of their pets. A study conducted by the "Guide Dogs" organization has shown that cold weather, short days, and changes in daily routines can lead to fatigue and anxiety in dogs.

According to the results of the survey, around 27% of dogs become more lethargic in winter, while 15% of owners report signs of anxiety in their pets. At the same time, more than half of dog owners admit that gloomy days and cold weather create psychological pressure for them, which indirectly affects the behavior of the animals.

Experts recommend maintaining a stable schedule for dogs, especially regarding walks, playtime, and feeding. They suggest that interaction with the pet during walks and teaching new skills can have a positive effect on both the mood of the dogs and their owners. Despite the winter lethargy, 88% of surveyed dog owners noted that walks with their dogs contribute to improving their mental well-being.

According to Auroranews.am, apart from household pets, the issue of outdoor animals is serious in Armenia. They not only face the so-called "January blues" but also hunger, cold, and cruel treatment from people.
