Mass Protests in the US Against ICE Following the Killing of Young Woman

Ofelya

Widespread protests continue across the United States in connection with the death of 37-year-old Rene Good in Minneapolis, who was killed by an agent of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Minneapolis authorities have reported the arrest of 30 protesters and one injured police officer, who was hit by a block of ice thrown by demonstrators. Protesters accuse ICE of "hunting people" and turning the city into a "combat zone." According to federal authorities, ICE agents were conducting "the largest" operation against migrants in history, with around 2,000 federal agents deployed in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.

During the operation, one of the agents fatally shot Rene Nicole Good while she was sitting in her car. Footage shows Good’s vehicle parked in a traffic lane, blocking the path of an ICE vehicle. An ICE officer approached the car and grabbed the driver’s door handle, at which point the vehicle began to move. Another agent standing in front of the car jumped to the side and opened fire.

Local authorities assert that the woman’s actions were harmless. Meanwhile, the administration of President Donald Trump claims that Good attempted to abduct an agent and characterizes the incident as an "act of domestic terrorism." It should be noted that the Minneapolis City Council stated that "Rene’s life was taken by the federal government." Following her death, thousands took to the streets in Minneapolis.
