Trump Believes Putin Wants to Reach Agreement on Ukraine Issue: NYT
US President Donald Trump has stated that he is confident in Russian President Vladimir Putin's desire to reach an agreement to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
“I believe he wants to come to an agreement,” Trump said in an interview with the New York Times.
Trump also noted that during the negotiation process, there were instances when the Russian leader agreed to proposed settlement terms, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was opposed to them.
“There were times when it was the opposite. I think both sides want to come to an agreement now, but we’ll see,” Trump said.
The US administration had previously announced the development of a Ukrainian settlement plan. The Kremlin stated that Russia remains open to negotiations and is committed to ongoing discussions in Anchorage.
