Karaj is a major city in western Iran, not far from Tehran, and is considered one of the important suburban cities of the capital. It is a significant industrial hub and a key transport link connecting Tehran to the Caspian Sea and other regions of the country. The city serves as the administrative center of Alborz province, with a population of over 1.5 million.
