Zhanna Andreasian on Developing the Nursery-Kindergarten System
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia intends to develop the nursery-kindergarten system. Minister Zhanna Andreasian announced this at a press conference.
According to her, the "300 Schools and 500 Kindergartens" program is being successfully implemented and will be completed on time. Last year, 53 billion drams were allocated for the program, while this year, the allocation is 121 billion drams.
"The preschool education program for nurseries has started, which hasn’t existed since the Soviet era. They are already available in Yerevan, and will soon be introduced in Hrazdan, Vanadzor, and Gyumri. The nurseries are intended for children aged 6 months and older, and the program will continue to expand," Andreasian stated.
The minister revealed that the licensing of non-governmental institutions has commenced. Currently, there are about 250 licensed institutions educating over 10,000 children. In this context, she emphasized the importance of oversight and adherence to standards.
The educational system currently serves over 1,700 children with special needs, which is significantly higher than in previous years.
