US Does Not Plan to Invade Greenland - Rubio
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated during a phone call with his French counterpart that the US does not plan to invade Greenland. This was reported by France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barron.
Earlier, the Wall Street Journal cited sources indicating that Rubio, in a closed briefing with senior officials, mentioned that Washington has no plans for an invasion of Greenland. According to the Secretary of State, the goal of the US is to purchase the island from Denmark.
“I spoke yesterday with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He confirmed that the idea of invading Greenland is not the approach adopted by the United States,” Barron stated during an interview with Radio France.
