The Situation in Aleppo has Escalated Sharply: Gunfire and Shelling Near Armenian Neighborhoods - Maria Gabrielyan
The situation in Aleppo has sharply escalated. This was reported to ‘Factinfo’ by former Syrian parliamentarian Maria Gabrielyan. According to her, the city has not been calm since yesterday. The latest negotiations between Kurdish forces and the authorities have effectively yielded no results, leading the Kurdish side to resort to military operations.
Gabrielyan stated that intense gunfire continues in the city, with small arms and artillery being used. She emphasized that two Kurdish areas are immediately adjacent to Armenian neighborhoods, significantly affecting the Armenian community.
According to her information, the morning situation was relatively calm; the Armenian community participated in a liturgy that was held as usual, and the diocesan leader received congratulations from the faithful. However, around noon, the situation changed dramatically, and the city is now almost deserted.
“After noon, the governor announced that schools and public institutions would remain closed, and people were advised to stay as far away as possible from the Kurdish neighborhoods. While leaving the house is not forbidden, caution is advised,” stated former Syrian parliamentarian Maria Gabrielyan.
