Macron, Starmer, and Zelensky Sign Declaration on Troop Deployment in Ukraine

The leaders of France, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine have signed a declaration in Paris regarding the deployment of multinational forces in Ukraine following a ceasefire. "Today we have made significant progress by providing reliable guarantees for lasting peace," said French President Emmanuel Macron at a press conference following the meeting.

He noted that these guarantees imply that any future peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine will not be violated. "Reliable security guarantees and commitments to ensure prosperity are crucial for establishing long-term peace in Ukraine, and we will continue to work together to achieve that," wrote U.S. Special Representative Steve Whitkof on social media.

He announced that U.S. and European parties will continue discussions with the Ukrainian delegation. "We hope to achieve greater positive momentum in the near future," he concluded.

Among the American representatives, besides Whitkof, was Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of the U.S. President. From the European side, attendees included Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and other leaders from European countries.
