Brazil Warns of Possible US Pressure

Brazil must consider the risk that the United States may attempt to exert control over the country's rare earth mineral deposits, stated Glauber Braga, a member of the Brazilian Parliament. His remarks were reported by RIA Novosti, addressing the events in Venezuela and the developments surrounding President Nicolas Maduro.

Braga emphasized that the current situation calls for unity, as security threats in the region may expand. He noted that following actions against Venezuela, threats are also being directed at other countries, including Colombia and Cuba. The parliamentarian expressed that if Brazil does not agree to concede control over its natural resources, it could find itself under pressure.

Brazil is considered one of the countries with significant deposits of rare earth metals in the world, but this sector remains largely unexplored. Additionally, a clear governmental structure for the systematic development of these resources is still lacking.

In recent months, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has taken several measures aimed at regulating the sector, emphasizing the preservation of national sovereignty and Brazil's right to make independent decisions regarding its own resources.
