Driving Rules for Drivers: The Ministry of Internal Affairs Cautions
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued driving guidelines for drivers on how to operate a vehicle in snowy and icy conditions.
Accordingly, drivers should exclusively use winter tires during the winter, maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, avoid sudden braking or changing speeds, and drive close to the roadside where there is settled snow.
What to Do When Your Vehicle is Stuck in Snow
First and foremost, do not panic. It is better to try to dig a hole under the stuck wheel and place a supporting surface, for example, a car mat underneath it. This will help improve traction and successfully free the vehicle from being stuck.
Black Ice is Extremely Dangerous
Always keep an eye on weather forecasts. Remember these tips and stay safe. If you find yourself in an emergency situation, immediately call the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ rescue service at 911.
