From January 1, Tourists Entering Georgia Must Present Insurance Documentation
Starting January 1, 2026, according to the "Tourism Law" of Georgia, it will become mandatory for all tourists entering the country to have health and accident insurance. This information has been reported by the Georgian embassy.
"Every tourist entering Georgia must present a document confirming the existence of insurance, in physical or electronic form, written in Georgian or English. The insurance document can be provided by both Georgian and international insurance companies, and the insurance amount must be at least 30,000 Lari.
The insurance coverage must include the following:
- Parties to the insurance contract
- Coverage area
- Subject of the insurance
- Dates of the insurance period's start and end
- Insured risks
- Amount of insurance
- Amount of the insurance fee, payment location, and deadlines.
The insurance must be valid from the moment the tourist enters Georgia until their departure, covering the entire duration of their stay in the country."
