European Military Forces in Ukraine Are Targets: Lavrov

The military forces of a "volunteer coalition" from Europe, if they find themselves in Ukraine, will become legitimate targets for the Russian Armed Forces. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“The ambitions of European politicians literally blind them. They not only do not care about the Ukrainians but seem to care for their own populations as well. How else can one explain the ongoing discussions in Europe about sending military contingents to Ukraine in the form of a 'volunteer coalition'? We have repeatedly announced that in such a case, they will become legitimate targets for our armed forces,” Lavrov noted.

In mid-December, leaders of major European countries issued a statement declaring that security guarantees for Kyiv should include the establishment of "multinational forces for Ukraine" led by Europe. Following this, UK Defense Minister Jon Healy stated that countries participating in the 'volunteer coalition' had heightened their military readiness in anticipation of possible deployment to Ukraine.
