China Implements Strict Regulations on AI Amidst Fears of Threat
China considers artificial intelligence to be vital for its economic and military future, but also a political risk. This is reported by the WSJ.
Fearing that chatbots could challenge the authority of the Communist Party, Beijing is introducing strict controls to keep AI within acceptable limits, while also trying to maintain competition with the United States.
The new regulations require that chatbots be trained on politically filtered data, undergo ideological testing before launch, and label all content generated by artificial intelligence to ensure traceability.
Authorities claim that during the recent campaign, they removed nearly 1 million pieces of "illegal or harmful" content related to artificial intelligence.
