Three Mountaineers Missing in Kazakhstan Mountains

Three mountaineers have gone missing in the mountains of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan. The Almaty Emergency Situations Department reported the death of one of them.

On the night of December 26, the sister of one of the climbers submitted a report to the department about the missing person. She stated that the man and two friends had gone to the mountains on the morning of December 24 and had not returned. Their mobile phones had been turned off for more than 12 hours.

“After receiving the report, the Ministry of Emergency Situations mobilized forces and resources for search operations in the designated area. An emergency response center has been established at the scene. A helicopter from the Ministry of Emergency Situations has also been deployed for search and rescue operations,” the Emergency Situations Department reported.

A search team later discovered the body of one of the missing men in the mountains, while the search for the other two is ongoing. The body was found near the Lokomotiv peak, at an altitude of 3,700 meters above sea level, after which it was lowered and handed over to the police. A forensic examination has been ordered.
