Citizens Will Continue to Pay 160,000 Drams for 'Red Lines'
Citizens will continue to pay 160,000 drams for 'red lines', even though the court deemed the council's decision unlawful. The fact is that the court's decision comes into effect one month after its publication, and the municipality has the same amount of time to appeal the decision. This was reported by ABC Media.
"The decision of the Republic of Armenia's Court of Appeal in administrative case No. VD/0796/05/25 will come into effect one month after its publication on December 12, 2025, and during that same period, it can be appealed to the Republic of Armenia's Court of Cassation. Based on this information, we inform you that the Yerevan Council will appeal the decision of the Republic of Armenia's Court of Appeal," the Yerevan Municipality stated in response to ABC Media's inquiry.
"It is worth recalling that on December 12, 2025, the court again ruled that the Yerevan Council's decision, which increased the cost of 'red lines', was unlawful. For the second year, opposition members of the council have filed lawsuits against the municipality and have won their case; however, the decision has not come into effect, and citizens continue to pay 160,000 drams instead of the previous 12,000 drams," the news outlet reports.
